Parents and staff,
Please use the established traffic pattern. The middle lane is exit only after 7am...do not use it to pull into the parking lots.
Parents should pull through the lane in front of the football field. Prek parents may wait in the lot at the old high school.
Staff use the bus lane after 7 am!
We want to keep our students safe!
Our 2/3 grade concert is tonight 12/10 at 6pm! Please wear Christmas clothing. Doors will open at 5:15 for pictures, performers should be there by 5:30.
We need to cancel Good News Club for this Thursday, 10/10 due to a scheduling conflict with parent teacher conferences.
Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. We look forward to resuming on 10/17.
Just a reminder...after school tutoring started today!
Pick up is at 3:45! Please be on time!
Due to the uncertainty of the water issues and the current boil water advisory, we are canceling tomorrow's Golden Guests Grandparents event.
As always thank you for your support and understanding.
Please let your families know!
Due to water issues. BES will be dismissing at 9:30 am. Please do not block the bus lane!
Prek families will follow the k-5 pick up procedures.
Line up in front of the old football field and we will dismiss from the gym as usual.
Putnam County Schools and Buffalo Elementary School are committed to the safety and education of all our students. Essential to this commitment is open communication with our families and school community about potential concerns when they arise.
For this reason, I wanted to share some information regarding unsubstantiated or rumored threats circulating on a social media messaging platform.
Please rest assured that we take all threats seriously. Upon notification of reported threats, we contact law enforcement immediately to investigate any threat and its validity. The reported messages are being investigated and appear to be similar to other threats or messages being spread throughout our region. We understand that situations like this can be concerning, and we want to assure you that we are committed to maintaining a safe and secure environment for all.
Putnam County Schools will continue to work closely with local law enforcement, the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department and Homeland Security’s School Safety Unit to monitor any situation, should it arise, to ensure our school remains a safe place for learning. Once again, we want to emphasize our unwavering commitment to the safety of our students and staff. We are grateful for the support and collaboration of our school communities and law enforcement agencies. Together, we will continue to work diligently to keep our schools safe and secure. If you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to get in touch with me directly at 304-937-2651 ext. 2011. Thank you for your continued trust and support as we work together to keep our school community safe.
Sorry for the late notification. This should've gone out earlier.
Tomorrow is picture day for all students including headstart and prek.
The make up day will be in November. It has to be rescheduled due to a conflict.
Reminder: BES Open House is 4:30-6:30 this evening, Tuesday, 8/20.
Come and meet your teacher! We look forward to seeing you!
New Student Registration is tomorrow, Friday, 8/9 from 8-12! Tell your friends and families!
Please wear your blue and gold tomorrow as we support the BHS Softball Team.
After school tutoring has ended. The last day was April 25th.
We appreciate your support with this worthwhile program.
Happy Friday All,
I trust you have each had a safe and relaxing break.
This is Principal Casto calling with information about the Solar Eclipse.
PCS sent communication on Wednesday, April 27th regarding the Solar Eclipse, the letter is also posted on our PTO fb page and Schoology.
After much discussion, the decision for Buffalo Elementary on Monday, April 8th, is that students will not be permitted outside the building for activities during the school day. I know that there will be varying opinions on this choice, but I can’t say it enough, safety is the priority and the liability of trying to keep glasses on students is too great.
Please remember that you may sign your student out and use one of your parent notes for the absence if you choose to watch as a family.
At dismissal, students will be given viewing glasses provided by PCS, however the glasses limit visibility and I worry they will cause more harm than good on the walk to the buses and on the ride home. Therefore, we thought it would be helpful to have a Hat Day, to help shade students’ eyes and as a deterrent to not looking directly at the sun. As you know saying, “don’t look up” is an invite to look up, I don’t care how old you are!
Preschool and K-5 parent pick up will be a bit different and probably much slower than usual as we dismiss from the gym and escort one student at a time to their vehicle. Tutoring and Good News Club participants will also stay indoors and be escorted to vehicles one at a time. Please remember to send a note if you don’t want your student to stay for these activities.
As always, I thank you in advance for your support and understanding in this matter. Enjoy your weekend!
Reminders: Midterms for grades 1-5 were sent home today along with Summative Assessment informational letters for grades 3-5.
Tomorrow is a 3 hour early out and there's no school Monday.
Check Schoology often for updates and to monitor student progress.
Reminder Our Title 1 Charlotte's Web Family night and shopping at the book fair is this Thursday, 2/1 from 6-7 pm.
Please make every attempt to attend!
Due to the weather forecast for this Friday, 1/19. We are rescheduling our 2/3 breakfast club for next Friday, 1/26. Sorry for any inconvenience. Stay safe and warm.
Due to no school today, our Christmas luncheon for students will have to be postponed. Our wonderful cooks didn't have today to prep.
Santa's Shop is restocked and will be open until 10 am Thursday!
Due to weather and the muddy mess at our entrance we are canceling the blanket pick up for this evening.
Please call or email to make other arrangements.
Due to a water leak at our main entrance there will be no school at Buffalo Elementary School tomorrow Tuesday, 12/19.
As you know the WVDE has scheduled an internet outage for Tuesday, December 19th to upgrade equipment. In addition to our internet (email and Schoology) being down, our phone lines and door buzzer could be affected. We have a school cell phone 304-741-6817 that you may call in the event of an emergency, do not leave a message at this number, the phone is ancient and voice mail is hit or miss at best. Please remember to send after-school pick-up changes by note on Tuesday morning.
Obviously, the staff will have their cell phones and we have the radio to call out if needed. We do not perceive any problems, just an inconvenience to our lifestyle. It could be enjoyable to have less distractions during this busy time of year! (I remember a time when school happened without the internet!)
Thank you for your patience and understanding. If you have questions or need clarity reach out Monday, you may not get us Tuesday! 😉
Have a great weekend!
